My name is Kimberly Victoria Lomeli, and on November 1, 2026, I will be lacing up my shoes and running my very first marathon, 26.2 miles through the streets of New York City, for every person who has ever needed a village and found one.
I was born and raised in Seattle, Washington, in a lower-income community where I learned early on that survival isn’t a solo sport. It takes neighbors, programs, people who show up, a village. Life wasn’t always simple growing up, but what carried me through was the unwavering presence of people who genuinely cared. And those people changed everything!
Five years ago, New York City became my home. And every single day, this city reminds me of that village, of every hand that was extended, every door that was opened, every person who said “I’ve got you.” CommonPoint is that village for so many New Yorkers. From childcare and food assistance, to senior services and community programs, CommonPoint shows up for people when they need it most, the same way my community once showed up for me.
Now it’s my turn to give back.
I am running this marathon in honor of my beautiful mother, grandmother Adela, my brother Alex, and for every family member and friend who has never stopped believing in me, cheering for me, and holding me up through every chapter of my life.

I have never run a marathon before. But I have never stopped believing in the power of community, and that will carry me across every single mile.
