Inez Chuidian x TCS NYC Marathon

On November 15th, 2026, I partially tore my meniscus and ruptured my ACL playing rugby. Eight months post-op, I'm running again, and I've been given the incredible opportunity to run the New York Marathon! This honor is only possible with the support of Team Commonpoint, an organization dedicated to strengthening community across New York.

My name is Inez Chuidian, and on November 1st I will be running the TCS NYC Marathon. Running has always been part of my life as an athlete — I ran track growing up, found my way to rugby, and represented the Philippines at the Touch Rugby World Cup in 2024. Now I play for the Yale Women's Rugby team, where I injured my knee last fall. Over the course of my recovery, I've realized what a privilege it is to move — which is why this race means so much to me.

After a year of restriction, frustration, and limitation, I'm reclaiming my body as my own, and doing so with a greater cause behind me. I've committed to raising $5,000 for Team Commonpoint.

As an international student at Yale, New York has come to feel like a second home to me — in the nooks of Central Park just a Metro North ride away, or the endless street pop-ups I explore with my brother – I've found community in the city. Commonpoint reinforces this sense of belonging as a social services organization supporting learning centers, public gyms, and senior homes across all 5 of the city’s boroughs. By contributing to my $5000 goal, you can help this city feel like home for international students, locals, and beyond.

And of course, this goal would not be true to myself if it did not honor my real home: the Philippines. One day, I hope to bring the spirit of Commonpoint back to Manila — enabling social programming for people from all walks of life. I dream of public fitness centers beyond BGC, and early education centers in rural communities like Nasugbu.
